I am addicted to Anonymous Lawyer and am anxiously awaiting the July release of his book Anonymous Lawyer by Jeremy Blachman, the cover design shown above. In an effort to get "serious" about my blog I considered removing those links, that at first blush, seem to have nothing to do with disability issues. In the end those least likely links have everything to do with a disability blog.
For those of us parenting persons with disabilities it is all too easy to want to believe that the world is going to be fair, welcoming, and decent to our children. In an educational environment that has so completely left behind common linguistic usage and not only allows, but seems to encourage, teachers to send home daily updates from the schoolroom telling you of little Johnny's activities that are lunacy if understood in normal terms; today Johnny rode the bus, today Johnny went shopping for groceries, today Johnny went to the post office and had a snack in a local restaurant, today Johny did well in integrated homeroom.
I find Anonymous Lawyer a welcome relief from all of the nonsense. In a world that is increasingly transactional and demanding, it may be wise to remember that the disability world's cozy clouding of real issues may not, in the long run, best serve our children.
Anonymous Lawyer, beside being one the the funniest reads on the web, is also a nice bracing dash of cold water on our sometimes overly idealistic worldview.

Couldn't have said it better myself!
